October 15, 2024

The Hoffmann laboratory in the Center for Chromosome Stability (www.ccs.ku.dk) at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (www.icmm.ku.dk), University of Copenhagen, is seeking two postdoctoral fellows. The CCS is a center of excellence funded by the Danish National Research Foundation to addresses basic research questions in chromosome biology and translates promising basic research results into new strategies and targets for the development of new therapies for cancer and reproductive health. The successful applicant(s) will join a group of ambitious and dedicated scientists studying the mechanisms by which the ovaries age.

Start date: January 1st, 2025, or after agreement

Our group and research – The Hoffmann laboratory investigates the role of regulation of genome instability in mouse and human eggs and embryos. This project is to study the function of PICH helicase and how this influences oocyte maturation and aneuploidy. The lab consists of 15 students and postdocs working on various aspects of women’s reproduction, fertility and genetics. You will be part of the Novo Nordisk Foundation funded Distinguished Investigator award, which uses cross-disciplinary approaches to understand aneuploidy and regulation of fertility.

You will be responsible for using human and mouse oocytes as well as mouse genetics to elucidate the mechanisms of PICH. This will be integrated with human genomics as well as clinical datasets.

The Department
The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine focuses on basic cellular and molecular biological processes, their regulation and their significance for cell function, interaction and organization in tissues. The Department offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate teaching programs spanning cell biology, genetics and basic human biology, including chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, as well as anatomy. You can read more about the department at www.icmm.ku.dk.
