Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Southern Denmark, invites for applications for a 3-year Assistant Professor position in the field of improved materials and device architectures for next generation capacitor devices. The position is in Sønderborg, and the staring date is March 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.

About the position
The research focus of the assistant professor position is to develop new materials and device architectures for more efficient capacitors that can operate at higher temperatures. The new materials and devices will be characterized with a variety of advanced techniques, such as X-ray diffraction and Kelvin-probe microscopy, in order to understand how the material microstructure and device architecture affect device properties. The experimental investigations should be supported by theoretical studies to elucidate the failure mechanisms in such devices. The successful candidate will work closely with national and international companies and research groups. The candidate is also expected to contribute to teaching and supervision at bachelor and master level at the Electronics programme at SDU Sønderborg Campus.
About the candidate
We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious candidate with a Ph D degree in a field related to the topic, such as engineering or physics, and with relevant postdoc experience. The preferred candidate has expertise in electronics, is knowledgeable in solid-state physics, and has experience in X-ray diffraction and Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory, as the position will include participation in a lecturer training programme. Moreover, the preferred candidate has strong communication skills in English (written and spoken), can work well in a team as well as independently, and can quickly acquire new knowledge.

Conditions of employment
Appointment as assistant professor is temporary and for an initial 3-year period.
During employment, the assistant professor must complete the Lecturer Training Programme .
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Further information on salary and taxation.
Employment as assistant professor requires scientific qualifications at Ph D level at the time of employment.
