As a volunteer in Social Drive Out, you can help bring presence, distribute food and necessities, have a chat and create local communities that give individuals the courage to embrace life
The umbrella, Taastrup is currently looking for volunteers for the project Social Drive Out. In the project, we meet people who cannot come to our Café themselves or who are not familiar with the Umbrella. We drive out to other parts of the municipality so that our community and presence reaches the farthest.

About the job:
As a volunteer, you have to perform very varied tasks. Typical tasks can be packing the car, driving out, welcoming people locally, listening, asking questions, handing out food and necessities and showing the way to advice and support in connection with the Social Drive Out.
Possible tasks can also be preparations for the Social Drive Out such as cooking, packing goods, collecting necessities or communication initiatives such as seeking out and inviting possible participants or other volunteers.
Social Drive Out Taastrup has 2 stops every Tuesday.
In the morning we go to Hedehusene, where we stay in the activity center in Charlotteager. The initiative is called "Morgen Kaffe" and is an open and free offer to everyone who wants to - both residents of the area and people from the city. We serve morning coffee, morning bread with butter, jam and yoghurt. As a volunteer at this stop, you help bring presence to the western part of Høje Taastrup Municipality, where our café does not always reach. At the stop, we are a participating party in the conversation and focus on helping new people through the door and into the community. Those present are present on their own terms, which is why it is important to have a good sense of the situation and to be present in the community. In SDO, we are a link to other agencies and professionals, which is why we must keep this in mind on our tour around the local area.
In the afternoon we drive to the living environment Thorsholm. Here we meet people who have been homeless or are threatened with homelessness and who are perceived to be socially vulnerable to a large extent. At the stop we serve sandwiches, coffee, tea and some sweets. The residents use the offer very differently - some are there sporadically to refuel with coffee and food, while others sit and enjoy the company from start to finish.
As volunteers at this SDO stop, we help frame the good conversation and invite the residents into the community. Furthermore, it is the volunteer's task to be curious about the residents' living situation and their stories. In SDO, we are a link to other agencies and professionals, which is why we must keep this in mind on our tour around the local area.

About us and what we can offer you
The umbrella is a warm and open organisation, where community and inclusiveness are at the centre, and where everyone is welcome. We run a social café where we serve a home-made hot meal, coffee and sweets for cheap every day, and many different activities start from here in the form of tours, banko, petanque, Christmas Eve, summer party, Denmark Eats Together and many other events. Conversation and presence are pervasive in everything we do.
The umbrella is part of the YMCA's Social Work. Through the organization, twice a year you can meet others with the same job as you and participate in a workshop at our head office in Middelfart.
You must volunteer at Paraplyen because we offer a like-minded community that offers presence and friendships. We offer voluntary work where you can develop your skills and help where people are.
