Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Offshore Structures

This is a full-time position expected to be started on 1st Jan 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The applicant will be expected to create a strong international research profile, with the eventual goal of forming an internationally recognized research group within their domain. The applicant shall be active in attracting externally funded research.
Teaching duties will include the supervision of BSc and MSc students and co-supervision of Ph D students. The applicant may also be expected to develop a new specialized course offering within their field of specialty in the Department's programme.
The candidate will be expected to participate in the Department’s strategic development committees.
Furthermore, the applicant is expected to take an active role in the operation and development of the new AUWave Tank facility.
The successful applicant should have a strong and documented research background in wind/wave measurements and/or wind/wave-structure interaction and or offshore structural response. The candidate should have an educational background in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering. A preferred focus will be within the specific domains of structural dynamics, experimental research, signal processing, IT, and applied mathematics. Professional industrial experience is desired, but not required. Candidates must have at least 2 years postdoc or relevant industrial experience after obtaining their Ph D. Ideally, the candidate should show a track record of attracting and managing research funding for projects within the noted
research areas.
Documented teaching experience will be preferred, and it is expected that the successful candidate will be able to deliver independent lectures in both the BSc and MSc programs within the Department. Who we are
Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering was established on January 1, 2021 in connection with Aarhus University’s reorganization of the engineering area. The department employs around 100 people and is responsible for research and education within the department’s scientific areas. We educate both Bachelors and Masters of Science in Engineering and around 1000 students are enrolled in our degree programs. Furthermore, we also offer an advanced Ph D program. Our Ph D students have high academic potential and deliver high-quality results for both the private and the public sectors.
Through research and development, we forge sustainable technological solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing industry and society. We continuously contribute to sustainable development and to create green solutions to challenges within construction, building energy systems, indoor climate, geo-technics, environmental and climate adaptation and many other areas.
Our research is both basic and applied, and we develop current knowledge into workable solutions in the business community. We collaborate with a wide range of public and private enterprises, and many of the department's research and development activities are based on the innovation needs of the business community. Through collaboration, we ensure that the knowledge and technology generated in the university's technical research environments are clearly anchored in reality and benefit the surrounding society. Based on our research on building materials, architectural design and technology, we also offer research-based public sector services and consultancy on technology to public agencies and ministries.

Tenure Track Program at Science and Technology
Aarhus University offers talented scientists from around the world attractive career perspectives via the Science and Technology Tenure Track Program. Highly qualified candidates will be appointed for a period of six years with the prospect of performance-based advancement to a tenured position.
The aim of the Science and Technology Tenure Track Program is to:

- promote the early development of independent research success early in the career of scientists
- create transparency in the academic career path.

- capability development, including postgraduate teacher training

As part of the Aarhus University Tenure Track Program, the University carries out a mid-way evaluation to review the progress of the tenure track candidate after three years, according to the same criteria used in the final tenure review. The final tenure review will be conducted after five and a half years. If the review is positive, the candidate will be offered a tenured position as Associate Professor/Senior Researcher at Aarhus University.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.
Letter of reference

Unfortunately, it is not possible to ensure that letters of reference received after the application deadline will be taken into consideration.
Formalities and salary range
Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Further information on qualification requirements and job content may be found in the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities.
Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
