We are now looking for Research Scientist to join our Cybersecurity research team.
As a Research Scientist, you have a role in performing cutting edge research on cybersecurity automation by leveraging AI and machine learning techniques. You will design, develop, study and test AI-based automation solutions to solve diverse cybersecurity problems. In this position, you will work under the guidance of experts in AI and cybersecurity. You can also contribute to the definition of the long-term roadmap for AI & cybersecurity research and contribute to its execution. You will work in customer projects and collaborative research projects with industrial and academic partners. You will write and communicate about your research results through peer-reviewed publications, reports, patents and oral presentations.
Our team counts 15+ researchers working on applications of AI to solve cybersecurity problems, the security of AI systems, cybersecurity testing and the security of future networks (e.g., 6G). It is a main contributor to VTT’s mission for building digital trust in society.

As a Research Scientist, you will:

• Perform research on applications of AI to automate and facilitate security functions.
• Contribute to our strategy on cybersecurity automation research.
• Participate in research projects, commercial and public, on both a national and international level.
• Communicate your research results through peer-reviewed papers, reports, patents and oral presentations.
• Continuously acquire knowledge and learn new skills.

Who we are looking for:

• You have an MSc or a Ph D degree in cybersecurity, computer science, mathematics or another relevant field.
• You have a strong knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and security functions
• You have some knowledge or are keen to learn about supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
• You have critical thinking and an adversarial thinking mindset.
• You have good problem-solving skills
• Optional: You have good scientific writing and presentation skills.
• Optional: You have a track record of research publications in machine learning, cybersecurity, or other relevant publication venues.
