• Be responsible for various method development projects and work together with laboratories in validating analytical methods and maintain method reliability

• Make work plans and instruction for the work in laboratories and act as an expert to resolve any problems with analysis methods and instruments
• Interpret laboratory results, make conclusions, and report the results to internal co-operation partners and colleagues
• Work closely with our R&D experts and UPM Businesses’ technical teams in various research and development projects and support them in analytical chemistry related questions
• Will seek the best science and play a key role in supporting the development objectives of UPM´s spearhead areas in demanding chemical analytics and related problem-solving tasks

• You have at least Master´s degree in chemistry and strong knowhow in analytical chemistry
• You have minimum 3 years´ of professional work experience in field of chemical analytics, method development and method validation
• You have a solid understanding in different liquid and gas chromatographic analysis methods and techniques, and ideally experience in working with complex sample matrixes from biorefinery processes. Mastery of other analysis techniques, e.g. thermal analysis, FTIR, ICP, will help you succeed in this position
• You want to work as a researcher in a laboratory environment and have a desire to develop analytical methods and solve challenges in them
• You have an analytical mindset, an organized way of working and eagerness to learn new skills and to take initiative and responsibility
• You are a team player with good communication and reporting skills
• You are fluent in both spoken and written English, Finnish language proficiency is seen as an asset
