API PURPOSE

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for managing all student "delivery" aspects of API Experiential Programs with a strong "student-first" attitude. The Managing Director will lead the France team and critical components of our programs, including collaborating with students, universities, colleges, housing partners, and excursion partners. Most importantly, this person will focus on serving students and building and leading the Paris and Grenoble teams.
This position also implements API programs which includes Study Abroad programs Customised or faculty lead programs, and Career Programming (e.g., internships). This position will work with all functional leaders of API and will maintain productive relationships across departmental lines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and manage the France team, including performance reviews, annual strategic planning, hiring, contract negotiations, and facilitate sr. level meetings with vendors and partners to achieve strategic company priorities.
  • Implement and manage a portfolio of programs from start to finish including student onboarding, orientation, student life activities, academics, and excursions.
  • Serve as a primary contact for Universities and students within a specific geographic region on all matters related to French programs.
  • Review and evaluate partner requests and manage vendor contracts, as well as any contract changes. Bring special requests to the attention of senior leadership.
  • Develop and deliver timely and accurate information to students by utilizing the API Connect Platform, API Connect Apps, and other internal systems.
  • Draft, revise, and update program proposals and program costs; accurately manage contract execution; assess contracts for completeness and accuracy; and confirm accurate descriptions of deliverables in contracts.
  • Work with the domestic and international staff to manage and trouble-shoot challenges and provide creative solutions to complex programming requirements, including unforeseen changes to program costs, etc.
  • Other tasks or duties as required to successfully support the France entity (business operations).
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Minimum of ten years related experience working with faculty, administrators, or customers in program development, program management, sales, negotiation, customer relations, and/or recruiting.
  • At least 7 years related experience working with one or more of the following: study abroad, tour operator, travel agency, and/or sales.
  • Successful track record in client management, recruiting or study abroad programming in which goals were consistently met and/or exceeded.
  • Talent for organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment, including excellent follow-up and attention to detail.
  • Dedication to providing high-quality client services with a high level of enthusiasm, energy, and flexibility.
  • Strong data management skills with experience using budgeting tools (Excel), Microsoft Office, Salesforce.com (CRM), and other databases.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and close contracts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ease in interacting with various constituents and ability to make effective presentations.
  • Skilled in managing complex situations, e.g., situational advising and supporting program leaders and/or faculty.
  • Extensive “insider” knowledge of France is essential.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the social and behavioral culture and pressures of American college life, particularly in a study-abroad context.
  • Substantial intercultural sensitivity, particularly to North American and French cultures.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Business, Counseling, Education, Psychology, Sociology etc.) or significant work experience; graduate degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading/managing a team of both Cadre and non-Cadre employees.
  • Demonstrated experience managing CDI and CDD employees in France.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings, as required.
  • French Citizenship or valid work authorization for France required.
