Visual Journalist, based in Paris, France
Reuters is looking for an energetic Visual Journalist to join our highly successful team based in Paris. The winning candidate will have experience in video newsgathering and production and a keen interest in news stories that make up our rich file from France and the Benelux countries.

The role implies a strong interest in European politics and a firm understanding of international news. The candidate needs to be a team player, a self-starter and have an ability to produce creative ideas to keep our storytelling fresh. You will work closely, across all services, with the bureau in Brussels, Paris, Geneva and the Netherlands, to produce high quality multimedia stories. You will report to the Senior Visuals Producer in Paris.

About the Role
As a Visual Journalist at Thomson Reuters, you will:

• Process daily content, editing and script writing in English
  
• Provide creative storytelling ideas
  
• React quickly to breaking news
  
• Have an interest in new technologies
  
• Create and maintain visual planning entries for the day-to-day schedules as well as for long-term planning
  
• Identify news stories and interesting story angles, coordinating between visuals and text teams sometimes across the region
  
• Back-up processing from Brussels and other bureau
  
• Tackle stories from a diversity of viewpoints, experiences, and perspectives.
  
• Travel, on occasion, to back up bureau in other countries
  

About You
To be considered for the role of Visual Journalist, you will have:

• Excellent news judgement and a passion to deliver stories to our clients
  
• Ability to write scripts with a high level of English
  
• Ability to use a video camera is a bonus but not a must have
  
• Enthusiasm for travel
  
• Eagerness to participate in planning and organisation of news stories
  
• Creativity – that special touch that can make our story telling stand out
  
• Be calm under pressure and enthusiastic
  
• Strong team player, able to collaborate with text and photos across multiple offices
  
• High level of French with Dutch or any other European language a bonus
