Animal welfare officer ('Tierschutzbeauftragte*r') at Berlin site (all genders)

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You monitor and ensure compliance with legal requirements in the field of animal welfare.
You advise scientific working groups on all animal welfare and laboratory animal science aspects during the planning, preparation, execution, and documentation of animal research projects.
You serve as the point of contact for the person responsible under §11 of the Animal Welfare Act and associated staff regarding the well-being of animals, including hygiene.
You monitor animal health (hygiene monitoring).
You are the contact person for the approval and supervisory authorities.
You draft statements for applications seeking approval for research projects and handle correspondence with the relevant authorities.
You contribute to the development and implementation of procedures and organizational guidelines to meet all requirements of the Animal Welfare Act.
You act as a clinical veterinarian for Research & Development at the Berlin site (knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia in rodents and pigs is advantageous).
You manage the veterinary pharmacy.
You serve as project lead in the implementation of a S1 genetic engineering facility.

WHO YOU ARE

You have completed a university degree or Ph D in Veterinary Medicine and hold a license to practice as a veterinarian; qualification as a specialist in laboratory animal science or animal welfare would be desirable.
You have successfully completed the EU Function A, B, and D courses in laboratory animal science.
You have several years of professional experience as an Animal Welfare Officer and/or in positions related to laboratory animal science.
Your expertise includes the ability to manage public relations and/or communication regarding animal experiments.
Ideally, you have experience as the head of a veterinary pharmacy and in the field of genetic engineering (project leader is desirable).
You enjoy working independently, have strong teamwork skills, and are highly committed.
You possess excellent proficiency in both written and spoken German and English.
You act as a visionary, guiding teams in defining outcomes to fulfill the mission.
You serve as a catalyst, removing obstacles to facilitate connections and collaboration.
You work as an architect, shaping a value-creating system to unleash the passion and energy of our employees.
You take on the role of a coach, helping teams develop the skills they need to create value for customers and stakeholders.
