Country Sales Manager Germany

The role of Country Sales Manager has responsibility for leading the sales team and driving business growth within an assigned region, including responsibility for maximizing revenue of key accounts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales management, with a proven ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans, achieve sales targets, and build lasting customer relationships. Responsibilities include overseeing daily sales operations, mentoring and training sales staff, analyzing market trends, and identifying new business opportunities. The Senior Area Sales Manager will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize sales processes and ensure customer satisfaction. This role requires excellent leadership skills, a results-oriented mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
  • Create a regional strategic plan in line with European sales plans that covers the commercial performance of the regional business in line with budget expectations
  • Assist Senior Sales Manager to develop and implement strategies to manage and grow key corporate and strategic accounts
  • In keeping with marketing strategies and in partnership with departmental heads and cross functional teams, develop meaningful experiential, in-store and communication programmes
  • Provide business forecasts to the Senior Sales Manager, ensuring regular measurement versus Forecast Phasing budget, ‘a&f’ and Distribution reporting models
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through effective account management, addressing and resolving customer issues promptly
  • Accompany ASMs with key/strategic accounts to drive:
    • Optimisation of commercial growth/results by account within the market through two-way profitability and sell through
    • In-store Marketing coordination with above line advertising/PR
People Management
  • Lead and direct ASMs to ensure they are fully aware of the commercial results to be achieved in a set timeframe
  • Assist the Senior Sales Manager to mentor and develop a high performing sales team by:
    • Driving them to achieve commercial and strategic targets
    • Continuous review of progress versus reporting models
    • Acting with integrity through implementation of transparent measurement and terms
    • Fostering a positive and collaborative team environment
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback and coaching to maximise team performance
  • Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities
Reporting and Controlling
  • Provide sales performance measurement and analysis for region in conjunction with ASMs
  • Provide monthly reporting on forecast reviews for phased results, distribution, journey planning, and T&E
  • Provide weekly reporting on GSR forecast review, distribution, journey planning, and team and market sound bites
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
  • Ability to address complex issues and improve process, techniques and product sales programs.
  • Strong negotiating and motivational skill set with both external and internal parties.
  • Proficiency in thinking strategically, defining business opportunities or risk, analyzing abstract and concrete data and creating sales solutions.
  • Proven results-oriented background of performance achievement of goals.
  • Fluent verbal and written English communication skills required.
Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:
  • BA in business, marketing, or related field required (or equivalent)
  • Significant sales experience, preferably within the sporting goods industry, golf or consumer goods
  • Experience and a track record of successful managing key accounts
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials
