Reference no.: 2024/199. The start date is January 1st, 2025 or by agreement. The position is available initially for three years. In principle, this position can be divided into two part-time positions.

The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.

The successful applicant will join a newly founded research group at the University of Konstanz. In this research group, we study the automatic design of control software for multi-robot systems, for example, through techniques from machine learning, evolutionary computation and reinforcement learning.

The position is available as part of a project funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation and provides an exciting opportunity for candidates wishing to conduct frontier research on swarm robotics and imitation learning. The research has a strong interdisciplinary focus, at the intersection of machine learning, robotics and collective behavior. The working language is English. Your Responsibilities

• Research in the field of large-scale mobile multi-robot systems and imitation learning
• Problem solving, creative thinking
• Communicating your results by publishing research papers at top-level conferences and journals
• Supervising students who contribute to your work

Your Competencies

• Strong written and oral communications skills in English
• You possess a scientific graduate degree (MSc or equivalent) in Computer Science or Robotics with excellent grades
• Experience in mobile robotics, machine learning, mathematical modeling
• Strong motivation and determination
• Very good team skills
