Your mission

As a Electric Propulsion Test Engineer (all genders) you will join the VÆRIDION Test Team within the Technology division. You will lead our electric drive system test activities from single electric motor up to integrated multi-engine propulsion including energy storage and power distribution. You will be working in close cooperation with electric drive and other equipment suppliers, external labs, and the internal technology and aircraft teams. You will be responsible for specifying and implementing test setups as well as coordinating and executing test campaigns.

Your Day-to-Day:

• Define and own the electric drives test strategy and contribute to the overall test strategy of the electrical propulsion system.
• Plan, define, execute, postprocess and evaluate electric drive characterization, integration and qualification tests from single electric motor and inverter up to integrated full-scale multi-engine and battery powered propulsion system.
• Define and implement test setups for the purpose of electric engine validation and verification. Specify and plan test equipment and associated facility interfaces. Lead the mechanical, electrical, thermal layout, implementation, and validation.
• Lead all electric propulsion test campaigns and act as a focal point to external test and lab personnel.
• Establish test plans, test procedures, and test reports and ensure traceability of results to design requirements.
• Generate electric propulsion test results eventually accepted as means of compliance for CS-23 aviation regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contributing to electric engine and system modelling, Si L, and Hi L activities, with a focus on test synergies and opportunities to reduce risk, time and cost.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations as to personal safety, protection of equipment, installations, and environment.
• Stay updated and assess the latest advancements in airborne electric propulsion technology, performance, and testing, including environmental test and certification regulations.

Your profile

• MSc or equivalent degree in in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field required. Qualified electrician (“Elektrofachkraft”) would be a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in electric motor and/or inverter testing, technology, design, production, modelling.
• Substantial experience in electric drives, ideally in the field of electric mobility.
• Excellent knowledge of V&V process, test management, measurement principles, data acquisition.
• Established network with electric drive test labs, cell manufacturers and researchers would be beneficial.
• Strong motivation to help build structures and processes.
• High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team as well as autonomously.
• Target-oriented, driven workstyle with analytic problem-solving skills required.
• Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or other language would be beneficial.
