Duties
Human Resources Assistant - NF-01
The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical support and perform routine administrative tasks to assist HR assistants and HR specialists.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Receives requests for personnel actions.
  • Provides general information regarding position vacancies, application procedures, status on vacancies and requests.
  • Checks request for completion and accuracy.
  • Routes and prints requests for personnel actions.
  • Schedules and prepares in-processing and out-processing of employees.
  • Reviews and verifies completion of personnel systems.
  • Assists in providing recruitment and placement service to NAF activities.
  • Assists applicants in applying for vacancies and coordinating onboarding tasks for new hires.
  • Performs general office duties such as receiving telephone calls, visitors, routing, filing, sorting, distributing mail, and routine support tasks.
  • Operates a personal computer and office software programs to enter data, complete forms, correct errors, files and records as needed.
  • Utilizes office equipment such as copier to make copies, scan documents, and upload files.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Human Resources Assistant - NF-02
The primary purpose of this position is to provide recruitment and placement services to NAF activities by procedurally processing a full range of personnel actions.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Federal personnel experience.
  • Utilizes automated recruitment tool by building and editing user accounts.
  • Generates vacancies for job announcements, enters position and organizational data to vacancy.
  • Creates announcements, verifies applicant eligibilities, produces applicant lists for selecting official.
  • Conducts in-processing briefing.
  • Verifies signatures on position descriptions (PD), enters PD's into automated library, uploads supporting documents into the case file, locates PD's in the library.
  • Enters personnel data into an automated data system.
  • Completes applicant and position builds and verifies accurate documentation for personnel actions.
  • Processes a variety of personnel requests and actions, generates reports, and identifies and corrects discrepancies in personnel data.
  • Provides an overview of employee benefits and personnel matters to include: insurance, retirement, 401(k), workers compensation, and awards.
  • Performs front desk responsibilities to include; customer service assistance to customers, copies, scans documents, uploads documents.
  • Operates a computer remote terminal and word processing equipment.
  • Creates and maintains Official Personnel Folders, position control registers, office files, group insurance files, etc.
  • Prepares and submits payroll transmittals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:

Human Resources Assistant - NF-01
  • Experience performing clerical or administrative work.
  • Experience utilizing office automation software (MS Windows, MS Office, to include Power Point, Word, Access and Excel)

Human Resources Assistant - NF-02
  • Experience performing clerical work and providing customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Experience applying rules, regulations, and procedures in accomplishment of clerical/administrative work related to personnel.
  • Experience utilizing office automation software (MS Windows, MS Office, to include Power Point, Word, Access and Excel).
  • Experience scheduling appointments.
  • Experience conducting briefings to a group.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. You may substitute education for experience at the NF-1 grade level, you must have 1-year (30 semester hours) in any program. At the NF-2 grade level you must have 2 years (60 semester hours) in a personnel program or any program with a total of 24 hours in personnel classes.
Additional information

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit.
  • Probationary period may be required.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligible.
  • Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement for up to 60/90 days after the closing date. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
  • LQA is not authorized.
  • Post Allowance is authorized for Regular Full Time employment category. This position does not qualify for Post Allowance.
  • This is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position carrying out Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force.
