About the role
As a Senior Film Technician, you will be the technical lead for our specialist film facilities. You will manage and develop a team of Film Technicians, ensuring our students receive the best possible technical support for their learning experience. This role involves hands-on work with cutting-edge film equipment and collaboration with various stakeholders to maintain high standards of health and safety.
What You'll Do
- Lead and develop a team of Film Technicians, creating and maintaining staff rotas to optimise support for students.
- Partner with the Senior Health & Safety Officer to ensure compliance with health and safety policies on campus and at external venues.
- Advocate for and uphold health and safety standards, providing guidance and escalating concerns about non-compliance.
- Set up technical equipment for lessons and coordinate technical demonstrations in collaboration with the Building and Technical Services Manager and lecturers.
- Offer specialist technical support to staff and students, ensuring smooth operation of all film facilities.
- Maintain an asset list of technical equipment and manage the signing in/out process for equipment hire.
- Conduct routine and ad-hoc checks of technical equipment, keeping detailed records and reporting to the Building and Technical Services Manager.
- Perform low-level maintenance and repairs on technical equipment and liaise with external contractors when necessary.
- Induct students, staff, and lecturers on the safe and effective use of specialist facilities and resources.
- Train and develop team members on core aspects of Technical Services to promote shared knowledge and workload allocation.
What You'll Bring:
- A good standard of general education, including proficiency in Mathematics.
- Experience working in the Film industry or a relevant specialist education provider.
- Competence in using and managing film facilities and equipment.
- Confidence in both verbal and written communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the needs of the campus community.
- Competent digital literacy skills.
- Fluent in German and English
Pay: 30.498,00€ - 37.076,00€ per year
