Senior Program Manager, EU Supply Chain Expansions Long Term Planning

Berlin

FULL TIME

September 3, 2024

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Experience in program or project management
  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, and prioritize.
Amazon is looking for an experienced Senior Program Manager, Supply Chain, with a strong delivery record and senior leadership experience to own and manage strategic, cross-functional supply chain planning projects. Our team, Long Term Network Planning, drives strategic plans based on forecasts, and optimizes the flow of hundreds of millions of units each year for EU customers living in countries that are part of Expansion territories (Emerging Stores and Export Businesses) for Amazon Consumer business and potentially for our European Fulfillment Network. Due to the start-up nature of these country businesses, competition is more challenging, and the objective/problem statement is different than EU5 and for each business model/country. Additionally, we often lack access to full potential of upstream high-tech systems enjoyed by EU5, which makes it difficult to fully benefit from our well-connected, state-of-the-art Fulfillment Centers. Hence, a different mental model is needed to find the right Supply Chain design and drive E2E solutions to improve Customer Experience: We collaborate with Consumer and DEX to closely monitor customer needs along with local competition to define the problem statement for our local customers. Working backwards from that, we design the long-term SC strategy and drive solutions by coordinating different workstreams, including but not limited to short/mid term 3P or long-term 1P fulfillment centre decisions involving considerations on site location and colocation with existing First/Middle/Last Mile sites, design, capacity expansion (buildouts), financial viability and impact on network dynamics. The Senior PM will be responsible for improving Customer and Delivery Experience in scoped countries along with creating an efficient network by successfully partnering with various stakeholder teams such as Operations, Engineering, Real Estate and Finance to plan and implement decisions. This high-visibility role will require working with business teams across the company and around the world to prioritize projects which support both new products/programs and existing operations and supply chain systems.

Key job responsibilities
  • Ownership of a high-visibility strategic plan for internal customers. Ensure on-time delivery of the plan, providing customers with a mid to long-term view on expected volumes and capacity, which are critical inputs for these teams to run their operation, transportation and labor planning.
  • Owns a large program and manages complex initiatives. Unblocks teams and increases the speed of delivery. Negotiates resources and priorities. Escalates effectively. Able to find a path forward in difficult situations. Makes trade-offs between short-term needs vs. long-term needs.
  • Business problem may not be well-defined. Program strategy may not be defined. Delivers independently, with limited guidance.
  • Analyzing future network programs and designs to understand their impact and assess risks on capacity, cost, speed, and reliability, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive and align analysis and business cases
  • Present strategic documents to update senior leadership on the progress of network programs
  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, organizational development, instructional design or related field
  • Experience leading process improvements
  • Proficiency in SQL and any scripting language.
