The Stream Processing & Analytics team has the vision to build an elastic, reliable, durable, cost effective and performant stream processing engine that smoothly works with the existing Confluent Cloud products especially the Kafka offering. The Apache Flink based stream processing engine is at the heart of innovations that would unlock the next generation of use cases for Confluent Cloud, with the ability to impact the company’s top and bottom line. This role is at the forefront of this endeavor as it is aimed to make the interaction between Kafka and Flink seamless, unlocking the benefits of both Open Source technologies.
What You Will Do:
- Work on the connector that is connecting the Apache Kafka and Apache Flink based products on Confluent Cloud. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing and operationalizing high performance, scalable, reliable and resilient systems
- Independently drive execution of software projects to deliver complex projects in production with a focus on quality
- Build upon and contribute to open source software to deliver business impact
- Troubleshoot issues and improve operations for complex technical stack that spans all the 3 clouds
- BS, MS, or Ph D in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 4+ years of relevant stream processing experience
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
- Experience building and operating large-scale systems
- Solid understanding of basic systems operations (disk, network, operating systems, etc)
- A self-starter with the ability to work effectively in teams
- Proficiency in Java, or Scala
- A strong background in distributed storage systems or databases
- Experience/knowledge with public clouds (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Contributions to OS projects especially in the stream processing area (especially for Flink and Flink connectors)
