ELPEDISON, with its two privately-owned power plants in Thisvi (Voiotia )and Thessaloniki, with a total installed capacity of 820 MW, uses natural gas as fuel and ensures a clean and continuous electricity flow, based on a highly environmentally friendly power generation process.
We are looking for a Risk Control Section Manager to ensure that risks are properly identified, measured, monitored, and managed. In addition, to control the market/financial risk and the enterprise risk according to the relevant EMF policies, the Risk Management Guide, and the Risk Mandates. Responsible also to help Top Management maintain a risk profile that corresponds to the company’s Business Plan and risk appetite (using also appropriate risk quantification techniques).

We are looking for a Risk Control Section Manager to ensure that risks are properly identified, measured, monitored, and managed. Responsible also to help Top Management maintain a risk profile that corresponds to the company’s Business Plan and risk appetite (using also appropriate risk quantification techniques).
What you will do:
- Assist in the development and coordinate the processes to identify and evaluate the risks from all business areas trough conducting risk control self-assessments. Prepare and update the company’s Risk Register
- Determine the contribution of each risk to the aggregate risk profile. Prioritize risks comparing the results of risk analysis with the established risk criteria and help determine the required actions to prevent and mitigate risks. Review and monitor risk mitigation and corrective actions
- Assist in the development of a Risk Appetite framework methodology to support appetite-setting by Top Management. Perform the analysis needed for the selection of the appropriate risk strategies along with the respective risk limits to be submitted for approval to the Risk & Internal Control Committee.
- Assist in the design, development and maintenance of the appropriate risk models to quantify risks, including calibration and, if possible, creation of probability distributions of outcomes for each material risk, risk analysis of impact and likelihood, risk integration reflecting correlations and portfolio effects, and the formulation of the results in terms of impact on the organization’s key performance metrics
- Coordinate the process for the drafting of the appropriate Risk Mandates and establish/update the relevant risk control procedures
- Monitor risk and the performance of risk management strategies on an ongoing basis using risk tools, & models
- Prepare risk related reporting for the Management and the Risk & Internal Committee that indicatively include the following KRIs: exposures on all risk drivers, Value @ Risk for monitoring of trading portfolio & the open positions, Profit @ Risk for monitoring of asset based portfolio, compliance with the approved hedging strategies and the approved risk limits etc.
- Perform regular tests on the effectiveness of the applied hedging strategies. Perform various sensitivity analysis and stress tests
- Ensure the development, implementation, periodic evaluation of the adequacy of methods, criteria, models and systems for the timely identification, measurement, monitoring, hedging, reduction, reporting and general management of the risks undertaken or to which the company may be exposed
- Contribute to the formation of awareness and the promotion of a relevant mentality, regarding the risks in the areas of responsibility, at each hierarchical level of the company
- Provide advisory, training and challenge to the 1st Line of Defense (LOD) on risk matters
- Coordinate the m-t-m- process of all outstanding hedging or trading transactions and communicate the revaluation to the accounting dept
- Coordinate with internal control and audit on risk related issues
What you need to be successful:
- A BSc in Finance/Engineering/Statistics/Mathematics
- A MSc in Finance/Economics/Statistics/Mathematics/Risk Management will be highly desirable
- 6-10 years of working experience in finance or risk control
- A good understanding of assurance, risk and internal controls methodologies and practices
- Professional Certifications related to Risk would be a plus
- Excellent Excel skills, good Word, Power Point. Possibly also Programming, modelling
- Excellent command of the english language
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
