About the role
We are seeking an SQL Server Data Engineer to join our dynamic IT team at a leading retail company. This role entails responsibility for ETL, analyzing, and visualizing data to provide valuable insights and drive informed business decisions.

About the role
We are seeking an SQL Server Data Engineer to join our dynamic IT team at a leading retail company. This role entails responsibility for ETL, analyzing, and visualizing data to provide valuable insights and drive informed business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Power BI.
- Write T-SQL queries to provide ad-hoc reports based on business user requirements.
- Design, develop, and optimize data models and queries, employing SQL and SSIS to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources.
- Optimizing queries for performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to comprehend their data requirements and translate them into effective visual representations.
- Implement data cleansing and data quality strategies to ensure the accuracy and reliability of reports and analyses.
- Utilize the Soft1 ERP system to extract relevant data and integrate it into Power BI dashboards for comprehensive insights.
- Create and maintain documentation for data models, processes, and report specifications.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in data visualization and business intelligence.
- Proven experience as a Power BI Specialist or similar role, demonstrating a strong understanding of data analysis and visualization concepts.
- Experience writing complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to extract, transform, and load data.
- Proficiency in using Power BI to create interactive reports and dashboards.
- Hands-on experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for ETL development, including package design, configuration, and deployment.
- Familiarity with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, showcasing the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Familiarity with Python for data manipulation and analysis is considered a plus.
- Outstanding communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and present findings.
- Experience in the retail industry is desirable but not required.
