About our Summer Internship Program:
Our Hong Kong Summer Internship Program is a great introduction to what a trainee contract at Mo Fo would offer you and the best way for you to demonstrate your potential with us.
Each year we run two summer programs. The summer programs take place in June and July. These programs are for students in their penultimate or final year of a qualifying law degree planning to take the PCLL and to undertake a training contract in Hong Kong.
Each program lasts for four weeks and we take up to five interns for each of the June and July programs. The interns will work on real client transactions and contribute as a valuable part of the team. Each one is assigned an associate mentor who will help him/her settle in. Formal and informal social events will be available to give the interns a chance to get to know the partners and associates and experience our unique culture. By the end of the internship, you should have a good idea of whether the legal field is the career for you – and whether Mo Fo is the right place for you.
The internship forms part of our recruitment process and upon completion of the four week program, candidates who wish to be considered for a training contract will be interviewed and assessed.
Ideal Candidate:
We look for individuals with strong academic backgrounds with a minimum 2:1 degree of at least a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or equivalent from top universities. We also look for entrepreneurial spirit, drive, confidence and a can-do attitude. Given the work we do, we especially look for bilingual or trilingual students, particularly those speaking Mandarin and / or Cantonese, and with reading and writing skills.

Training Contract:
We aim to recruit up to four trainees each year. We recruit two years in advance and we will start recruitment for 2027 Training Contract on February 1, 2025.
Trainees rotate through different practice groups (Private Equity/Mergers & Acquisition, Funds, Capital Markets, Dispute Resolution and Technology Transactions) in Hong Kong and will have the opportunity to go on a secondment. In addition to the on-the-job training, we offer formal training sessions and workshops that will give you the practical and legal knowledge that is necessary to become a fully qualified lawyer. All trainees will have opportunities to work with partners. Mo Fo maintains an “open door” policy that encourages interaction amongst all attorneys.
The offer of a training contract is conditional upon successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) course in Hong Kong. We will reimburse trainees for their conversion examination costs and their PCLL course fees. In addition, we also provide a stipend for the PCLL year.
