Counsellor (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 530259) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, and with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should have a recognized master's degree in social work or counselling and be eligible for membership/registration of relevant professional bodies in Hong Kong or overseas, with at least 5 years of counselling experience or relevant experience in case and group work for social service organization or school setting in Hong Kong. They should also have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese); strong organisational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work independently with initiative; and an appropriate level of IT proficiency. Passion for working with youth and young adults would be an advantage.
The appointee will work closely with team leaders of Masters Programmes for developing a good and ethical practice model for the counselling service to students. He/She will provide screening and risk assessment, individual and group counselling, crisis intervention and consultation services as appropriate. The appointee will also deliver regular training to students as to promote mental health awareness. Working collegially and collaboratively with members of the Student Enrichment Team, staff and students of the Masters Programme, the appointee will develop priorities and goals for the counselling services and outreach programmes in support of student wellbeing/mental health promotion. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
