Role Introduction

Reports to: Head of Finance – Project Accounting
The FIN – Project Accounting Team assists with the review and assessment of project investments, monitors compliance to project and investment governance, and serves as the Chief of Staff for the Investment Committee.
Key Responsibilities

Review and evaluation of proposed investments

• Develop and maintain the process, as delegated by the Board, for the management and coordination of all CPA projects and investments to support Cathay’s expenditure governance.
• Conduct secondary review and assessment to proposed project investments, providing constructive review of their commercial rationale, financial implication and project approach.
• Review project related monthly reports to ensure the Chiefs, the senior management and the key stakeholders are provided with transparency on the progress and health of projects and the portfolio.
Conduct ad hoc analysis on company-wide project spend as per senior management’s request.

Maintain a fit-for-purpose investment governance framework

• Review Board Papers for project investments requiring approval from the Board. Provide notification to the Board as per governance requirement.
• Provide introduction, briefing and uplift sessions on project governance and related processes to key stakeholders and senior management.
• Conduct review on current governance framework to ensure it is fit-for-purpose and effective.
• Prepare master submission plans and master benefit reporting plans to provide holistic views on investments (and returns) on an annual basis.

Support and coordination for the Investment Committee

• Attend the monthly Investment Committee (“IC”) meetings and serve as the Chief of Staff of the meeting.
• Issue approval notifications to project investment owners, set approval baselines and follow up outstanding issues as requested by IC.
• Coordinate the preparation of the whole-of-company annual investment pipeline for budgeting and planning purpose.

Requirements

• Relevant degree and/or experience in Finance or Business. Professional accounting qualification such as CPA will be required.
• Minimum 8 years of project or finance experience (managing projects, budget and financial tracking and issue resolution).
• Experience of reviewing business projects will be required.
• Sound grasp of financial principles of project evaluation and business acumen.
• Excellent presentation, facilitation and influencing skills with high standard of written and spoken English. Strong communication skill to all levels in the organisation and agility to work within a team environment.
• A quick learner with the ability to work independently, be self-motivated and attentive to details.
• Strong analytics and reporting skills in producing reports, documentation and presentations.
