Project Manager, Events (12-month contract)

Reporting to the Senior Manager, this exciting role sits within the SCMP Live team - events arm of SCMP. The primary focus of the role is to ensure the professional and effective planning, management and delivery of events of different scales to achieve the organisation’s overall objectives in brand building, leads generation and revenue growth.
Job Responsibilities:
- Meet with clients to take detailed event project brief
- Plan and manage detailed project schedule, work plan, and resources allocation
- Monitor the event project schedule and progress to ensure project deliverables are of satisfactory quality, executed in a timely manner and on budget
- Provide project updates on a consistent basis to clients and various stakeholders and lead the preparation of materials for clients meetings and regular reports.
- Collaborate with multiple internal cross functional teams and external vendors to ensure smooth delivery and accomplishment on event deliverables.
- Manage events from conceptualisation to execution, including but not limited to creative development, venue sourcing, onsite production, entertainment, F&B management.
- Lead coordination efforts with vendors and service providers onsite to guarantee the smooth execution of all events, overseeing logistics, on-site execution, proactively addressing potential issues.
- Act as the gatekeeper to ensure events run smoothly and provide superior end to end project management services to meet client’s expectations and fulfil all project requirements
- Provide strategic support to the team, including budget management, invoicing, post-event reporting to assess performance and gather feedback.
- Perform other administrative duties or tasks as and when required by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in PR, marketing or event management within a sizable corporation or agencies, with a proven track record of successful event execution.
- Experience in the agency field is a plus
- Passionate and having strong interest in event industry with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset
- Able to work independently with minor supervision, an energetic and sensible team player with self-motivation and positive working attitude
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; meeting tight deadlines while ensuring high-quality outcomes
- Strong organisational and leadership skills with exceptional attention to detail, ability to think critically and problem-solve under pressure, and a positive, collaborative attitude
- Exceptional relationship-building skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin are essential.
- Proficient in Google Suite and familiar with website development and event management software
- Immediately available will be highly preferred
Work location will be in Hong Kong.
