Overview

The quality of school education available to students from low-income communities across India is abysmal. Their chances of getting admitted to a college or building a career are much lower than their high-income peers, condemning them to a life without voice or choice. i Teach was born to declare war on this status quo and create a level playing field for ALL children. We do this in Pune and Navi Mumbai by co-creating contextual school models with Municipal Corporations.

We run 12 free and high-impact secondary schools and a college-to-career program for the most disadvantaged students. In 2024, with a staff of 300 members across 12 schools, we will serve 4500 students and 3000 alumni - giving students a fighting chance at college, career, and citizenship. We aim to grow to 30 schools and 10,000 students over the next five years.

Responsibilities

This role sits within our Partnerships and Communications Team. There are two key parts of the Communications Associate role.

I. Strategy:

Design an innovative three-year strategy for Communications at i Teach Schools, including research around best practices for public relations, content design and outreach.
Develop an annual implementation plan for this strategy for the first year.
Synthesize the i Teach brand identity- voice, style and tone and ensure its consistency across platforms and teams.
Measure the effectiveness of various outreach channels to strategically prioritize the most effective ones.

II. Creation & Outreach:

Source, write and curate stories of impact and growth at multiple levels (student, student alumni, educators, school), serving the needs of our fundraising, recruitment and government relations teams.
Manage i Teach’s digital presence (social media, website, newsletter) to grow reach and effectiveness.
Design and lead innovative PR campaigns, from conceptualization to delivery.
Develop and manage effective relations with relevant press, media and sector influencers.
Identify advocacy partnerships and opportunities for our leadership team.

Prerequisites

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or English with strong performance.
Required: 1+ years of relevant work experience in the communications field.
Proficiency in creating and promoting written, visual, and digital content.
Exemplar writing skills, and ability to create content consistent with the i Teach brand identity.
Evident talents in building relations and investing people in your cause.

Compensation and Benefits: We take pride in offering competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with the candidate's education and work experience. The salary range for this position ranges from 4.26 - 5.4 LPA CTC, and we are dedicated to providing top-notch industry benefits.
