JOB PROFILE
The Manager - Accounts & Finance at EMPBINDI International Association plays a pivotal role in supporting our financial operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for assisting in financial planning, reporting, and analysis. Your key duties will include managing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. You will also help with budget preparation, financial forecasting, and reconciliation of accounts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance or accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. COMPETENCIES
● Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to ensure organizational financial health.
● Accounting Oversight: Manage accounting functions, including accounts payable / receivable, and ensure accurate financial records.
● Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards specific to the development sector.
● Reporting: Prepare and present detailed financial reports and statements to stakeholders and management.
● Audit Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and
implement recommendations.
● Resource Allocation: Monitor and optimize the allocation of financial resources to support
organizational objectives.
● Risk Management: Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate potential impacts.
● Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting and finance staff, fostering professional development and team effectiveness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Finance and Accounts management:
● Manage and generate all ledgers and reports according to agreed reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate standards to meet regulatory requirements for NGOs, specifically for a Section 8 Company and Private Limited Company;
● Clearly communicate, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep updating the department Heads and Finance Lead;
● Liaise with HR team to support monthly payroll and monitor statutory compliance requirements such as PF, ESIC and Gratuity on monthly and annual basis
● Coordinate the development of budgets in consultation with Program teams, other Support services and Accounts team;
● Manage organizational cash flow, position of funds, provide biweekly forecasts to the Finance Lead to ensure availability of funds as needed;
● Strengthen banking relationships;
● Assess and make recommendations in the area of internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets and actual expenditures.
● Manage and support all financial audits;
● Monitor Accounts team to ensure that expenses are recorded and reported in alignment with sanctioned grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period;
● Liaise with Company Secretary to ensure timely compliance of the ROC and MCA for both Section 8 and Private Limited Company in close coordination with the Finance Lead /CFO;
● Work with the Accounts team and Internal Auditor to get the internal financial statement ready before the statutory audit;
● Remain up to date on non-profit and private limited company audit best practices;
Technical and Management support to Finance Lead /CFO:
● Support the Finance Lead in developing and utilizing forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans;
● Assist Finance Lead in processing due diligence work for Grants and compliance matters and in collating financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants;
● Provide inputs to Finance Lead/CFO in finalizing the policy document such as Finance and Accounts Policy, Procurement policy and Grant Management Policy etc;
● Assist Finance Lead /CFO in assessment of Income Tax of staff;
● Perform any other duties as specified by the Line Manager.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
● Educational Qualifications: A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, CA) is preferred.
● Experience: Minimum of 5 years in accounting and finance roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity, preferably within the development sector.
● Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software, advanced Excel skills, and a strong understanding of financial regulations and reporting standards.
● Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor finance teams, manage budgets, and oversee financial operations.
● Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
● Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
