Senior Engineering Manager - Cloud Platforms - XR

Cloud Infrastructure Strategy
- Define and execute the overall strategy for the company’s cloud infrastructure, aligning it with the organization’s objectives.
- Ensure that the cloud platform architecture is scalable, secure, cost-effective, and meets performance goals.
- Stay ahead of emerging cloud technologies, evaluating and implementing the latest tools and services to optimize the platform.

Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of cloud engineers, Dev Ops engineers, and system administrators.
- Promote a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning within the team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals for team members, and ensure professional development.

Cloud Platform Development
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of cloud-based solutions across multiple environments.
- Lead efforts to automate deployment, monitoring, and management processes, ensuring reliability and reducing manual interventions.
- Work with engineering teams to architect and implement microservices and distributed systems in the cloud.

Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams
- Work closely with software engineering, product, and IT teams to deliver cloud solutions that meet business requirements.
- Act as a liaison between cloud platform engineering and other departments, facilitating clear communication on technical and business objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for cloud optimizations and improvements.

Cost Management and Optimization
- Optimize cloud costs by monitoring resource usage, implementing cost-saving measures, and ensuring that cloud architecture is efficient.
- Regularly review cloud expenditures and ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Identify opportunities to leverage new cloud services and features that provide cost savings or performance improvements.

Cloud Operations and Monitoring
- Oversee the reliability, availability, and scalability of cloud services through proper monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
- Ensure 24/7 availability of mission-critical systems, with the appropriate disaster recovery and failover strategies in place.
- Drive improvements in system uptime, latency, and overall performance through proactive monitoring and diagnostics.

Process Improvement and Dev Ops
- Lead the adoption of Dev Ops principles, ensuring continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines are in place for rapid, reliable deployment.
- Improve development and operational processes, ensuring fast, iterative releases while maintaining platform stability.
- Promote a culture of collaboration between development and operations teams to enhance productivity and platform quality.
- Hands-on experience as a software developer, ideally in MERN stack, with experience across multiple layers of the application stack
- Experience with cloud applications and cloud deployments and infrastructure. Azure or GCP preffered.
- Willingness to step in hands-on if necessary
- Advanced knowledge in software architecture from at least one of: web applications and/or Node or Java backends
- The prospective candidate will be working with various cross functional groups (business, product, analytics, user experience design and engineering) and will require admirable articulation, negotiation and influencing skills given the level of visibility.
