Operations Technology

Operations Technology develops and maintains systems in support of Morgan Stanley's global Operations , including (but not limited to) Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Reporting, Position Keeping, Corporate Actions processing and other post-trade functions. Operations Technology is a global organization that is client-focused and functionally aligned. Our organization is built to support our clients functional, regional and business-facing requirements while delivering innovative technology and ensuring plant and processing stability. The Firm operates at scale with up to 40 million trades processed on peak volume days and hundreds of billions of dollars of daily settlements with activity ongoing in multiple countries and currencies across the globe. There is a great breadth of financial products that our Operations plant handles across equity and fixed income, from cash products to complex derivatives and loans.

Job Profile

At least 5 years of hand-on Java EE and core Java experience with strong leadership qualities

Experience with web service development, REST and Services Oriented Architecture

Expertise in Object Oriented Design, Design patterns, Architecture and Application Integration

Working knowledge of Databases including Design, SQL proficiency

Strong experience with frameworks used for development and automated testing like spring, Junit, BDD etc.

4+ years of experience with enterprise-wide systems/platform – web development, Angular, node JS, JS frameworks.

Expertise in Object Oriented Design, Design patterns, UI Architecture and Application Integration

Strong experience in architecting scalable applications that can support 1000+ users at a time

Hands-on experience with any dev-ops tooling (Jenkins CI/CD) and best practices and manage this at a platform level

Hands-on experience for managing large UI product from delivery, code-quality, and maintenance perspective

Hands-on experience with test frameworks Jasmine/Karma, Protractor, jest.

Experience in managing the large codebase/mono-repos supporting development of the UI platform, with large number of developers contributing continuously to the platform.

Experience in building and owning common reusable components for UIs

Experience in collaborating with global stakeholders for product development

Ability to manage the UX designers and translate UX designs into actual product implementation

Ability to coach and mentor the talent on development best practices with new tech stacks – frontend development and cloud esp.

Ability to adapt to the new developments in the UI space and to keep platform technically updated and modern.

Ability to coordinate with multiple groups, both internal and external to the firm, including offshore development and QA teams, internal infrastructure groups, vendors, and support teams.

Strong development skills with ability to understand technical design and translate the same into workable solution.

Familiarity with working in a large team.

Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and work on the same to meet business requirements.

A background that includes strong problem solving such as system integration, infrastructure debugging, or system administration.

Skill Set

Knowledge of one or more build tools – Maven/Gradle

Hands-on experience on Messaging queues (Active MQ/Rabbit MQ/Kafka)

Distributed Caching

No SQL – Marklogic

Experience with webservice backend development – e.g. REST

Experience with Cypress – Automation

Experience with Micro Front End

Experience with Ngrx State maintenance

Experience with Spring, Spring boot

Experience with DB basics – SQL

Experience with caching solutions to support data intensive user-interface
