Job Description:

About the role

As a Staff AI Scientist, you will positively impact our customers by utilizing machine learning (ML), deep learning and Generative AI applications and will contribute to the organization's success by providing thought leadership, technical guidance and expertise in Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Responsibilities

Collaborate across teams to develop innovative and cross-disciplinary solutions that infuse cutting-edge large language model (LLM) technology within Uniphore products
Track and be the resident guru on the latest model and method releases in the generative AI and core NLP research community.
Leverage the most current tech stacks to develop comprehensive, scalable solutions
Assemble and fine-tune pre-trained enterprise-grade ML/NLP algorithms
Define guidelines and design annotation processes for data, working closely with our Data team on data preprocessing, consumption, and automated/manual annotations
Manage large datasets, address quality issues, and interpret data according to business goals; compare results of alternative approaches
Lead the scientific evaluation of NLP/LLM models; conceive new techniques for model validation, evaluation, trust, and safety
Navigate complex metrics and evaluate performance by establishing baseline results from simple or established approaches

Qualifications & Skills

Ph.D. plus minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related plus a minimum of 7 years of experience in successful delivery of AI services in a product company
Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in any of: ML/NLP, Computer Vision, and Deep Learning
You have produced novel research related to topics of practical importance in contemporary AI, such as training generative AI models and/or improving upon pre-trained models
Have specialized expertise in topics like fine-tuning, Agentic-AI, RLHF, DPO, LLM tool-use, etc.
Solid expertise in Python programming; hands-on experience in developing production-ready, scalable code
Knowledge of deployment using environments such as, Docker or Kubernetes
Publications in peer-reviewed machine learning venues (e.g. Neur IPS, ICLR, ICML, EMNLP, KDD, AAAI etc.)
