Description:
The Victim Advocate will be responsible for providing prevention and intervention services for victims of crime and abuse, including domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include individual and group facilitation. While primarily working with clients on-site at Prevail, Advocates will also have the opportunity to serve families who have experienced crime or abuse through tele-advocacy and mobile (off-site) advocacy.

Job Responsibilities:
- Will work in conjunction with staff to provide intervention and follow-up services to clients as needed, which may include (but are not limited to): intake assessment, community referrals and resources, court advocacy, assistance in filing protective orders, completing safety plans, and inter/intra-agency networking and advocacy on behalf of the victim
- Provide on-going individual, follow up services
- Facilitate weekly support groups
- Maintain and update group curriculum, identifying resources, materials, speakers, etc. as needed
- Serve as a reference guide for the community in the areas of victim resources and violence prevention, by direct referrals for clients, and through public presentations and participation in community organizations
- Responsible for a schedule that includes evening hours at least two days per week
- Complete 24-hour on-call crisis line shifts as scheduled
- Collaborate with Prevail staff, other agencies, groups, organizations, and individuals to identify and develop prevention/intervention services for victims of crime and other populations within the community, as needed
- Represent the agency in public and private presentations to increase awareness and educate audiences as to victim-related issues as requested
- Coordinate and provide supervision of volunteers and interns assigned to their programs
- Adhere to all agency policies and procedures
- Provide and support Primary Prevention education to community members, professionals, and/or school based programs and personnel with the intent to end violence in our community
- Maintain client files to include group attendance records, evaluating group participants and monitoring participant progress
- Prepare and present pertinent and appropriate information regarding clients to staff at weekly case staffing meetings
- Responsible for all other duties as assigned
Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, criminal justice or related field; or a combination of experience, education and/or training equivalent to a four year degree. Fluent in Spanish/English preferred.
Work Experience: Two years of experience in victim assistance or related field is preferred.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment with little, if any, discomfort due to heat, dust, noise, etc. This position does require sitting for long periods of time. In addition, this position requires that the employee be able to drive (reliable transportation) and meet the agency's driver insurability requirements.
Training Requirements During Employment: A minimum of twenty six hours annually of continued professional education about current events, industry trends, and participation in professional training and conferences as approved. Maintain certifications, as needed.
Competitive compensation package including:
