Virtual Inventory Accountant – E-Commerce

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Virtual Inventory Accountant to join our e-commerce team. This role involves managing and maintaining accurate records of sales and purchase transactions, overseeing inventory management, and ensuring financial accuracy in our virtual environment. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting skills, a thorough understanding of e-commerce operations, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management: Oversee the virtual inventory system, ensuring that inventory records are accurate and up-to-date. Reconcile physical inventory with system records and investigate discrepancies.
- Sales and Purchase Tracking: Record and maintain accurate records of sales and purchase transactions, including order processing, invoices, and payment receipts.
- Financial Reporting: Generate and analyze financial reports related to inventory, sales, and purchases. Provide insights and recommendations for improving inventory management and financial performance.
- Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of inventory accounts, sales accounts, and purchase accounts to ensure consistency and accuracy. Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Vendor and Customer Relations: Manage relationships with vendors and customers regarding inventory-related transactions, including resolving any issues related to invoices, payments, and shipments.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and legal requirements. Maintain thorough documentation for all transactions and inventory movements.
- System Maintenance: Collaborate with IT and e-commerce teams to maintain and update inventory management systems and software, ensuring optimal functionality and accuracy.
- Cost Control: Monitor inventory costs and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures and inventory optimization. Analyze trends and forecast future inventory needs.
- Audit Preparation: Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and information related to inventory, sales, and purchases.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus.
- Experience: Proven experience as an accountant or inventory specialist, particularly within the e-commerce sector or a similar digital environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Zoho Books) and inventory management systems.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate actionable insights.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in handling financial records and inventory data.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with vendors, customers, and internal teams.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a remote work environment, meeting deadlines and maintaining productivity.
- E-Commerce Experience: Direct experience working with e-commerce platforms and understanding their impact on inventory and financial processes.
- Advanced Software Skills: Experience with advanced inventory management software or ERP systems.
- Remote Work Experience: Previous experience working remotely with effective self-management and communication skills.
