Job Title: Assembly Line Operator
Job Summary:
The Assembly Technician is responsible for the precise assembly of complex units in accordance with company standards and procedures. The role requires active involvement in process improvements for lean manufacturing, as well as collaboration with the QA and R&D departments. This position plays a key role in ensuring the manufacturability, quality, and efficiency of products, participating in design-for-manufacturing reviews and engineering change notices (ECNs) during production.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assembly Operations ( 80%) :
o Assemble complex units according to detailed drawings, and technical documentation.
o Ensure the highest quality standards are met in all assembly tasks.
o Perform quality checks and inspections during and after assembly to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Process Improvement (5%) :
o Actively participate in process improvements focused on lean manufacturing, identifying inefficiencies, and suggesting enhancements to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
o Work closely with production/warehouse and engineering and quality teams to implement approved process changes.
o Improve the workstation ( ergonomic, tools, visual management…)
  • Collaboration ( 15%) :
o Coordinate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure that all assembled units meet required specifications and standards.
o Work with Research and Development (R&D) to provide feedback on assembly processes and potential product improvements.
o Participate in Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) reviews to ensure manufacturability and propose enhancements to product design.
  • Documentation :
o Review and add notes on the assembly documentation, procedures, and work instructions as required.
o Participate in Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and manage the changes in production, ensuring that updates are implemented smoothly and documented correctly.
o Communicate changes in assembly procedures and documentation to the assembly team.
  • Training and Support :
o Assist in the training of junior assembly operators on complex units and assembly procedures.
o Provide technical support and troubleshooting for assembly issues on the assembly line.
  • Health and Safety :
o Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure that the assembly area remains clean, safe, and organized.
o Report any safety hazards or violations to management.

o Strong understanding of complex unit assembly, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
o Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (internal training is possible) .
o Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems as relevant to assembly tasks.
  • Communication:
o Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with QA, R&D, and other departments.
o Ability to document assembly processes and changes clearly and concisely.
  • Problem Solving:
o Proactive approach to identifying and resolving assembly and production issues.
o Ability to analyse problems and propose effective solutions for process improvement.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required or technical certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in complex assembly, particularly in manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes is preferred.
  • Experience working in an assembly line or prototyping line.
