We are currently recruiting Civil/Structural Engineers to join our Specialist Engineering Services department. This is a unique opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to work within the expeditious Geospatial industry. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Specialist Engineering Services manager and will be based in Ireland.
What will I be doing in my new role?
- Performing bridge/structural inspections using a variety of technologies and access methods.
- Conducting 3D laser scanning using UAV/drone for bridges and structures.
- Undertaking waterway inspections/surveys using 3D multibeam sonar.
- Opportunities for Rope Access bridge inspection (abseiling).
- Perform underwater inspections using Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV).
- Utilise Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and equipment.
- Handling, processing and interpreting geospatial/inspection data.
- Preparing technical structural inspection reports.
- Assist Project Manager in coordinating inspection programmes and subconsultants.
What qualifications/ previous experience do I need?
- Recognised university degree in Civil/Structural Engineering to Level 8 or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience working in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer or aspiring Chartered Engineer is preferred
- Fundamental knowledge of the principles and practices of bridge types and loadings.
- Ability to perform detailed field and office inspection work.
- Good writing skills and proficiency in the English language.
- The right to work in Ireland.
- Flexibility to travel nationwide as required by our clients.
- Possess a full clean driving license.
- Practically minded: good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong report writing, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces (training will be provided).
- Possess organisational and time management skills.
- Analytical and critical thinking.
- Have excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Enjoy learning new software applications for the various technological equipment.
- Possess the ability to work with autonomy or as part of a team.
- Be a problem solver with a positive attitude.
