Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate, self-motivated Programme Manager to lead the strategic development and operations of Explore Inishowen CLG. The Programme Manager will drive the delivery of the vision, mission, and goals set out in our Community Tourism Strategy 2023-2027. This role involves managing the organization’s financials, inspiring and managing a team, and liaising with tourism businesses and the local community. A proactive, can-do attitude is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of Explore Inishowen CLG's Community Tourism Strategy 2023-2027.
- Collaborate with Failte Ireland and other stakeholders to advance tourism development.
- Manage the organization’s finances, including budget preparation, financial documentation, and auditing processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, health and safety regulations, and financial procedures.
- Report to the Board of Directors on the financial status and operational progress.
- Oversee human resources, including recruitment, staff appraisals, and performance management.
- Develop and monitor quarterly, bi-annual, and annual goals and plans.
- Oversee the day-to-day administration and smooth operation of the office.
- Manage reporting to funding bodies and ensure compliance with their requirements.
- Lead marketing efforts, including the creation of promotional materials and attending trade and consumer events.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local, national, and international tourism bodies.
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in trade and consumer events.
- Conduct market research and oversee tourism statistics tracking and analysis.
- Build strong connections with the local community and tourism businesses.
- Seek additional funding and develop sustainability plans for the organization.
- Ensure the organization meets legal and regulatory obligations.
- Provide tourist information services as needed.
- Attend out-of-hours Board meetings and work unsocial hours as required.
Essential:
- Third-level qualification in Tourism, Marketing, Business Management, or Community Development.
- Proven experience managing and supervising staff in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with the Board, colleagues, tourism trade, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Experience in data analysis, reporting, and customer relations.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, databases).
- Previous experience in a tourism or business role.
- Financial qualifications or experience.
- Expertise in project planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Experience managing programs on behalf of funders and familiarity with tendering processes.
- Thorough knowledge of Inishowen, Donegal, and the Northwest regions as tourism destinations.
- Events management experience.
- Foreign language skills (German, French, or Spanish) would be an asset.
