House and Grounds Manager
Terenure College Rugby Football Club
Founded in 1940, Terenure College RFC is one of Irelands largest community-based rugby clubs with a strong competitive tradition. Terenure College Rugby Football Club aims to be the most inspiring and inclusive community rugby club promoting rugby excellence, enjoyment and friendship. We field 7 adult teams, and our firsts compete in division 1A of the men's All Ireland League of which we are current holders in addition to the Batemen cup, the Leinster Senior Cup, and the Leinster Senior league. The club runs a vibrant Mini and Youth rugby programme with over 500 boys and girls and the Terenure Tigers. With over 1200 members we have a strong community and family ethos with relationships with local businesses and schools.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced House and Grounds Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the clubhouse, pitches, and dressing rooms. The successful candidate will ensure that the club’s facilities are in pristine condition, meet all safety standards, and are prepared for key match days and events.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance:
- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the clubhouse, including all communal areas, changing rooms, and amenities.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify areas requiring repair, maintenance, or improvement.
- Coordinate and manage external contractors for specialized maintenance tasks (e.g., plumbing, electrical work, pitch maintenance).
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and maintain records of inspections and certifications.
- Manage and maintain the club’s pitches to ensure they are in optimal condition for training and match days.
- Oversee pitch maintenance tasks such as mowing, aeration, fertilizing, and marking lines.
- Monitor the condition of pitches and implement necessary measures to prevent and repair damage from weather or heavy use.
- Coordinate the setup and breakdown of equipment for training sessions, matches, and special events.
- Plan and execute all preparations required for match days, including pitch setup, dressing room preparation, and clubhouse readiness.
- Liaise with team managers, coaches, and match officials to ensure all requirements are met.
- Manage the scheduling and organization of grounds staff to support match day operations.
- Maintain an inventory of all maintenance equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Order and replenish supplies as needed, ensuring that all essential items are always available.
- Manage budgets related to maintenance and grounds keeping, providing regular reports to the house and grounds executive.
- Provide training and support to staff as needed, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Assist in the preparation and management of club events, ensuring facilities are properly set up and maintained throughout.
- Work closely with event coordinators to meet specific requirements for different types of events.
- Report regularly to the house and grounds executive on the status of the grounds and facilities.
- Provide updates and feedback on ongoing projects, maintenance issues, and any potential improvements.
- Proven experience in facilities management, groundskeeping, or a related field, preferably within a sports club environment.
- Experience managing a small team, working with external contractors and club personnel.
- Strong knowledge of grounds maintenance practices, particularly related to pitches.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
- ·Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with groundskeeping and facility maintenance.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and outside regular hours as needed for match days and events.
