Position Summary
APC Microbiome Ireland was formed in 2003 with funding from Science Foundation Ireland and in conjunction with key industry partners; it represents a seamless collaboration between UCC, Teagasc and MTU. It is widely recognised that the gut microbiota plays an important role in human health and has become one of the most dynamic, complex and exciting areas of research in both food and pharmaceutical arenas. Over the last decade, APC Microbiome Ireland has established itself as one of the leading global centres in gut microbiota research. APC Microbiome Ireland has made several landmark discoveries and has published over 3,000 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, generating many journal covers and associated editorials. APC Microbiome Ireland collaborates with over 20 industry partners and employs over 300 individuals, from the scientific PI’s funded by the partner Institutions, the management team, and a dedicated group of research scientists, research assistants and postgraduate students
Role: The candidate will support various APC labs with daily administration tasks such as ordering, stock management, HR administration, scheduling & organising meetings, travel & expenses, filing, grant writing etc. They will also support APC PIs with related tasks for annual reports, accounts / invoicing, education and public engagement, communications and will be an active member of the Centre’s Operations Team.
Qualifications: At least 5 years relevant experience in research administration and research project management is expected. Demonstrable strong knowledge of office procedures and management systems is required. Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point etc, (ECDL qualification or similar required), have strong editing and writing experience. Outstanding organisational skills. Be a flexible and a good team player and show initiative when required to do so. Must be discrete and be able to maintain confidential information. Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
Must have experience and competency with Agresso (UCCs electronic resource management system) and Procurement processes and systems (POs, etc).

Salary: €51,650 p.a. (Personal Rate)
