REPORTS TO: Information Systems Manager
LOCATION: Tel Aviv, Israel
HIAS is the global Jewish non-profit that protects refugees whose lives are in danger for being who they are. We help refugees rebuild their lives and advocate that all displaced people are treated with dignity. The HIAS Austria office as the Resettlement Support Center (RSC) processes refugee cases for resettlement to the US through a contract with the US State Department. The RSC Austria also operates a small sub-office in Tel Aviv, Israel to process refugees for resettlement to the US.
POSITION SUMMARY: To work closely with the Information Systems Manager (IS Manager) and the IT team to ensure the organization’s network security strategy, operations, and compliance measurably strengthen the office’s digital and cyber security. The IT Officer is also responsible for providing comprehensive IT support to staff in Israel, as well as remote support to offices located in Croatia and Austria. This includes but is not limited to maintaining and administering Microsoft Active Directory and other systems/platforms required to operate a fit-for-purpose, secure, and efficient technical operating environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- In cooperation with the Information Systems Manager manage and develop the organizations network infrastructure and implement additional security levels based on international standards
- Provide responsive and customer-focused support (L1, L2 and L3) to all users within the organization, on both software and hardware levels
- Provide initial instructions and training for new Israel employees on IT practices and conduct training sessions for Israel staff on basic IT procedures, software applications, and security best practices
- Work with IS Manager to implement and maintain appropriate IT security measures as required by senior management
- Monitoring and management of all IT network security systems and hardware as well as, servers, routers, switches, firewalls and other related devices such as telephony. This is to include updates, patching, replacement, and installation of such
- In cooperation with the IS Manager develop, implement, and maintain policies and standard operation procedures that are applicable to the IT department. Equally, assist other departments as needed and appropriate
- Monitor information security intelligence and keep abreast of pertinent events, research, and developments
- Continuously improve the network security design and operation with the IS Manager
- Ensure security technologies deployed are migrated into an operational status with appropriate ownership; create and maintain documentation such as process flows and technical procedures, standards, etc.
- Along with the IS Manager, ensure the correct and secure operation and monitoring of infrastructure and systems (Microsoft AD, Manage Engine, IIS, Exchange, etc.)
- Execute software deployment for all staff, within a multi-office and international environment
- Conduct regular maintenance, updating and management for IT equipment in use (Vo IP systems, printers, copiers, surveillance systems, workstations, etc.)
- Maintain and update the organization’s IT asset inventory in accordance to strict organizational standards
- Maintain documentation of IT systems, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures for reference and training purposes
- Ensure backup systems are configured and maintained in accordance with required policy and procedures
- Help in the migration towards Office 365
- Collaborate with external Israel vendors for IT equipment procurement and service contracts
- Utilize remote support tools to efficiently diagnose and resolve issues in remote offices
- Back up the IS Manager during planned or unplanned absence
- Any other ad-hoc duties and projects as organizational needs dictate or as assigned by the Information Systems Manager
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- A minimum of 3-5 years in IT related work
- Strong English oral and written communications skills sufficient for presentation of technical policy and standards development. Hebrew is a plus
- Proven experience in IT support roles, with knowledge of Windows operating system and servers
- Proven knowledge and hands on experience with network equipment i.e. Firewalls, Routers, Switches, VLAN, VPN, etc.
- Familiarity with network administration, including TCP/IP, VPN, VOIP, MS 365, Active Directory, endpoint security and remote access technologies
- Knowledge of IT security best practices and data protection regulations
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Executes projects on time and with high quality with limited supervision, highly organized and able to manage multiple, conflicting priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates absolute professionalism and discretion in respect of confidential information
- Has good judgment – knows when it is appropriate to escalate
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco network equipment would be considered a strong plus
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Comp TIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent) would be considered a plus
- Willingness to travel a few times per year to RSC offices in Austria and Croatia, if needed
