At Rehab Technologies Lab (https://rehab.iit.it/), we are dedicated to revolutionizing the field of medical robotics to enhance the lives of patients with spinal cord injuries and orthopedic and neurological upper limb impairments.


As an Electronic Engineer in the medical robotic field, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining printed circuit boards (PCBs) for medical devices such as prostheses, exoskeletons as well as development platforms. You will be involved in every aspect of electronics and biomedical engineering, from signal processing to PCB design for acquiring information and controlling mechanism therefore ensuring the continuous integration of electromechanical components across the entire system. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure our devices meet the highest safety, efficiency, and effectiveness standards.
Key Responsibilities:

• Design, optimization and maintenance of PCBs for medical devices such as prostheses, exoskeletons.

• Development and assembly electronics for medical robot prototypes and testbenches.

• Data processing, fast prototyping, fault detection and debug of PCBs and testbenches.

• Interaction with workshops and evaluation of manufacturers and suppliers of nonstandard circuits.

• Collaboration with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, biomedical, robotics, software) to ensure the successful integration of their designs with the rest of the system.

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU SHINE

• A M.Sc. in Electronics Engineering, Bioengineering.

• 3+ years’ experience in PCB design.

• Good electronics CAD design skills (Altium and Eagle).

• 3+ years’ experience with Communication protocols and standards.

• Excellent knowledge of regulatory aspects related to medical devices (e.g. Risk assessment, Safety, EMC/EMI testing, ...).

• +3 years’ experience lab skills (i.e. cabling, soldering, reworking, devices assembling/disassembling, …).

• Electronics assembly maintenance with versioning system (SVN or similar).

• 3+ years’ experience in Signal processing experience (EMG signals are a must).

• Machine learning techniques experience for electromyographic signals is crucial.

• Testbenches development and integration experience for data analysis and signal processing (Matlab, Labview or similar)

• Good hands-on skills.

• Good communication skills.

• Good spoken and written English.

• Design experience, preferably in R&D environments is a plus.

• Design for manufacturing.

• Strong problem-solving attitude.

• High motivation to learn.

• Spirit of innovation and creativity.

• Good in time and priority management.

• Excellent knowledge of electronics design software tools is a must (Altium is preferable), other relevant tools are also welcome.

• Experience in the robotics/biomedical academy or similar institutions.

• Experience in the testing and data processing from complex medical devices.

• Proven experience with electromyographic signals data analysis.

• Proven experience in the design of electronic circuits.

• Ability to work in a challenging and international environment.

• Previous experience in working in team with other Engineers and to organize test/assembly operations made by Workshop Technicians.
