The role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Executive Assistant to MIT Professor Carlo Ratti. In this position, the candidate will bridge key management teams across Prof Ratti’s Senseable City Lab, the design & innovation practices at Carlo Ratti Associati, and the construction-tech start-up Maestro Technologies. The position foresees handling a wide range of administrative and executive support tasks, ensuring a smooth operational process. You’ll act as the primary liaison for Carlo Ratti with clients and his management team, with a focus on scheduling, project management, and decision processes. This figure will be joining a team of 3 members named “the Cabinet”, assisting to manage processes smoothly. The role is designed to grow talented individuals into efficient managers within Prof. Ratti’s business and research ecosystem.

The role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Executive Assistant to MIT Professor Carlo Ratti. In this position, the candidate will bridge key management teams across Prof Ratti’s Senseable City Lab, the design & innovation practices at Carlo Ratti Associati, and the construction-tech start-up Maestro Technologies. Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for Professor Carlo Ratti, managing and prioritizing his schedule, calendar, and incoming communications.
- Manage travel arrangements, including booking flights, accommodations, and itinerary planning.
- Prepare for and follow up on meetings, ensure action points are implemented
- Represent Carlo at essential management meetings and contribute to the improvement of operational processes.
- Articulate Carlo’s vision to project teams, promoting innovation and teamwork.
- Encourage collaboration across Carlo’s ventures in architecture, research, and tech.
- Drive initiatives in line with the strategic goals of CRA and related ventures.
- Ensure efficiency, completion and follow up on projects and initiatives
- Previous experience as an Executive Assistant is preferred but not mandatory.
- We’re looking for a dynamic, precise and cosmopolitan person with a degree from a top university. A degree and knowledge of the fields of design and architecture is a plus.
- Ideal candidates should be comfortable working in a high-energy, fast-paced setting.
- At least one international experience is mandatory.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English. Italian and/or any other European language is a plus.
- Project Management: Capability to proficiently manage multiple, concurrent projects. Meticulous attention to detail and proactivity.
- Strategic Mindset: Capability to envision and pragmatically implement innovative solutions. Highly organized and methodological.
