Senior Engineer - Mechanical and Thermal Specialist

Position Overview
As a Mechanical & Thermal Engineer Specialist, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the design and development of our processor-based systems for embedded electronics, as well as the system-level integration of our products into existing embedded systems. Your work will support the launch and growth of a game-changing hardware and software platform for AI at the edge.
You will take ownership of managing and implementing thermal and mechanical solutions, often in collaboration with industry partners.
Key responsibilities:

Design new products with a focus on both mechanical and thermal aspects, develop project plans, and oversee collaboration with partners during the implementation process.

Analyze the thermal performance of existing system-level products, develop new solutions for our custom electronics, and define and execute validation plans.

Conduct thermal simulations from the chip level to the system level, focusing on heat dissipation in components or system parts prone to overheating.

Collaborate with customers to achieve optimal integration of our electronics into existing systems by designing effective thermal solutions.
Qualifications:
-
5-10 years of experience in mechanical and thermal design for electronics products (board- and system-level solutions).

Extensive experience with CFD and FEM analysis of thermal coupling solutions in electronics products.

Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD (e.g., NX, Solid Works, Catia, Creo, Solid Edge, etc.) and thermal simulation tools (e.g., Flo EFD, ANSYS, COMSOL, etc.).

Proactive and goal-oriented self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Enjoy working with multicultural and cross-functional teams and suppliers across different locations.

Team player who enjoys collaborating on innovative concepts with colleagues.

Ability to quickly adapt, anticipate challenges, and effectively solve problems.

Capable of working autonomously and planning and executing research tasks.

Location
We offer flexible working arrangements, with the option to:

Work from one of our Axelera AI offices (Eindhoven in the Netherlands, or Florence in Italy) if you're already based nearby.
