Apple is looking for a world-class Optical Material and Process Scientist Intern with optical thin film/coating experience to join the PPO (Panel Process and Optics) team in Yokohama Technology Center (YTC) of Apple Japan. You will work on material & process development of optical coating that is the one of foundations for Apple products. A successful candidate will work within a cross-functional team to realize advanced optical thin film/coating technologies, with an emphasis on material integration and process engineering for 3D optical components.

Description
Apple is looking for a world-class Optical Material and Process Scientist Intern with optical thin film/coating experience to join the PPO (Panel Process and Optics) team in Yokohama Technology Center (YTC) of Apple Japan. You will work on material & process development of optical coating that is the one of foundations for Apple products. A successful candidate will work within a cross-functional team to realize advanced optical thin film/coating technologies, with an emphasis on material integration and process engineering for 3D optical components.
- Familiarity with fabrication for gratings, waveguides, lenses, or prisms using previously described material and its validation method using imprint or etch-litho process tools.
- Familiarity with basic analysis methods for optical (Spectroscopy, FT-IR etc.), mechanical (ASTM adhesion tests, abrasion tests, strength tests, Nano-scratch, Nano-indent, etc.) and morphological (SEM, EDS, AFM, XRD etc.) properties.
- Experience in material design and synthesis: sol-gel, organic-inorganic hybrid, UV cured material, etc that can be integrated into optical components. Interest in thin film design software Essential Macleod, Virtual lab, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS/Ph D in Physics, Chemistry, Optics, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or related fields.
