We are expanding our grid consultancy business and are looking for a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our Grid & Power Systems team located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Our Grid & Power Systems team helps clients with compliance and efficiency, providing power systems studies to negotiate the connection and access standards for their energy generation projects.
We have a world-leading grid consultancy business based in the Asia-Pacific region which is working on a wide range of projects across the renewable energy sector, including some truly landmark developments. This team is solving cutting edge problems related to renewable generation integration into existing electricity grids and have been instrumental in the uptake of renewable energy in Australia.
You will join a global close-knit team of exceptional power systems engineers working on a wide range of projects in solar, wind, BESS and hydro. This is an opportunity to forge a career and be instrumental in growing and shaping the business in South-East Asia for a multi-national company whilst supporting clients throughout Australasia, the US and Europe.
In the role of Senior Power Systems Engineer you will:

• Execute power systems studies for renewable energy projects located primarily in Australia and the US but increasingly in Asia and the Middle East.
• Perform power system modelling and analysis relating to renewable (solar, wind, energy storage systems) grid connection studies for transmission utilities in Australasia, US and Europe.
• Prepare comprehensive study reports. Studies will range from connection feasibility studies for renewable energy developers, to support for ISOs / utilities with detailed static and dynamic connection studies, to other power systems studies involved in the integration or DG and augmentation of power grids.
• Prepare deliverables of exceptional quality within the agreed parameters in a defined format and within an agreed timeline and take responsibility to review other employees' work as and when required.
• Perform complex assessments, provide specialist advice/solution and training to internal/external clients, research or development work within agreed parameters including budget and contractual requirements.
• Participate in technical developmental activities including attendance at forums and involvement in industry presentations.

To be successful in the role of Senior Power Systems Engineer we are looking for you to have the following:

• Bachelor's/Master’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognised university or equivalent.
• 6-10 years of relevant working experience in power system studies, preferably with knowledge in renewables, HVDC and FACTS and inverter-based generation control systems.
• Proven knowledge and experience in performing power systems studies and grid connection studies.
• Demonstrated experience with power system simulation tools PSS/E and PSCAD, including automation with Python scripting.
• Experience with other power system simulation tools such as DIg SILENT/Power Factory, PSLF, SINCAL, RSCAD, MATLAB (and other similar study tools also beneficial).
• Exceptional communication skills, including both writing and public speaking/presenting to work harmoniously with our global clients.
• High level of self-motivation and able to collaborate harmoniously with a group of professional engineers.
• A passion for renewable and clean energy generation technology.
