It also operates ‘engagement’ services such as support for student organisations, social and sporting events, volunteering and leadership support that are aimed at helping students to maximise the non-classroom dimensions of the university experience.

The University of Auckland’s Ngā Wharenoho – Accommodation department is the largest operator of student accommodation in New Zealand. We house over 4500 students in a range of accommodation styles. Our primary goal is to build and nurture a safe, supportive, enjoyable community.


Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are searching for two casual Receptionists to join the team at our newest Hall of Residence, Waipārūrū Hall.
The Receptionist will provide general administrative and reception services for Accommodation. The role forms part of the “face” of Accommodation for visiting students, families and key stakeholders. Receptionists provide professional and customer focussed reception service for Accommodation, directing and referring enquiries from staff, students and the public as appropriate.
This role includes general administrative support to residents including meeting couriers, upkeep and maintenance of photocopier and other related supplies, receiving and routing calls as appropriate, front desk support, reception support to events taking place in the faculties, liaising payment arrears and refunds with residents and doing bank reconciliations.

This is a casual position, providing cover for staff leave and public holidays.
Shifts are 7:00am-3:00pm or 3:00pm-11:00pm

Our ideal candidate can deliver a high standard of service, while providing reliable, efficient and accurate execution of the reception duties in an Accommodation workplace.

To be successful in this role you will be a motivated self-starter who can work autonomously with the following qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience:

  • National Certificate of Educational Achievement Level 2 and/ or Vocational qualification in a related subject.
  • Administrative role experience (essential), and preferably experience in the tertiary education sector.
  • Knowledge and a basic understanding of CRM and databases.
  • Excellent customer service with good public relations and communication skills
