Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for an Ethics and Regulatory Coordinator in the Ethics & Integrity Team to administer and facilitate regulatory approvals and ethics applications, systems and committees, which includes the University of Auckland Human Participants Ethics Committee (UAHPEC), Auckland Health Research Ethics Committee (AHREC), Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) and the University of Auckland Biological Safety Committee (UABSC).
Examples of key responsibilities include:
  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to all Ethics Committees, including preparing and distributing Agendas, writing detailed Minutes and other papers, and completing follow-up actions from Committee meetings as required, including preparing letters to applicants with Committee decisions.
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge of Ethics Review Manager (Ethics RM) and provide guidance to applicants with managing their applications in Ethics RM.
  • Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills through relationship management, advocacy and negotiation within the ethics team, with the relevant Ethics Committee members or with stakeholders in the wider University.
Please note that this is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week, fixed-term opportunity for 14 months with a salary range of $58,300 - $72,700 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

To be effective in this role you should have the following:
  • Tertiary qualification plus 4-5 years’ administrative experience in a complex organisation working with internal and external stakeholders at multiple levels on detailed applications, correspondence or reports.
  • An affinity with ethical principles as they relate to research and the ability to communicate that understanding (including complex ideas) in a clear and coherent fashion.
  • The ability to interpret information and display sound judgement.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programmes.
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
