Health New Zealand (HNZ) Canterbury is seeking a dedicated Clinical Pharmacology Pharmacist to join our innovative team. This is a unique opportunity to use your expertise to optimise medicine use, enhance patient safety, and contribute to quality improvement and research initiatives that directly impact healthcare outcomes. If you're passionate about the quality use of medicines and want to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, this role is for you.
In this role, you will provide clear and timely medicines information to healthcare professionals, ensuring accuracy and relevance in clinical decision-making. You - ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, develop evidence-based guidelines and bulletins, and actively participate in quality assurance programs. Your work will directly influence safer and more effective medicine use across the organisation.
Beyond providing information, you - ll play a key role in evaluating medicine utilisation, analysing health data, and identifying potential risks and benefits of medicines. By working closely with stakeholders, you - ll develop guidelines and support continuous improvement in clinical practice. Additionally, you - ll contribute to teaching and training, equipping health professionals and students with essential skills in drug information, literature evaluation, and communication.
As part of your professional growth, you - ll engage in quality improvement projects and research activities. Your involvement in therapeutic drug monitoring, medication safety, and policy development will further solidify your impact within the healthcare system.
About you
To thrive in this role, you - ll need a B.Pharmacy or equivalent qualification, current registration, and at least 5 years of post-registration experience or a relevant postgraduate qualification. The successful candidate will also have:
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Expertise in medical informatics
- Interest in IT and clinical governance
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, .and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
