Delivery Manager - Engineering

The role
We're looking for a proactive Delivery Manager - Engineering to lead our Transmission Engineering function and manage our Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) contract. Based at our Hamilton Depot and reporting to the Operations Manager – Transmission Lines, you will oversee resources, ensure smooth project delivery, and contribute to Northpower's success. This role will involve leading a small team of Engineers, providing direction with a focus on engineering management, mentoring and training, safety by design, on-time delivery and ensuring quality through to project completion.

The key responsibility for this position includes, but are not limited to:
  • Support project teams to deliver on time, within budget and meet all customer and regulatory requirements
  • Efficiently allocate resources, manage schedules to reduce downtime and organize required materials
  • Maintain clear and documented communication with customers, including regular reports on WIP, budget forecasting and invoicing
  • Provide comprehensive Work Pack information and oversee accurate documentation for seamless project execution and handover
  • Cultivate strong customer relationships and oversee design, pricing and compliance for customer-initiated and regulatory works.

Who we’re looking for?
With at least 5+ years of Engineering experience, and strong expertise transmission networks, you bring solid operational experience and strong business acumen. You're collaborative, professional and focused on delivering high customer satisfaction.

Here’s what we’re after:
  • Bachelor’s or Level 4 qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (preferred) with 5+ years' project management experience in Transmission as a preference but would consider Distribution backgrounds.
  • Managing project budgets, schedules and stakeholder relationships
  • Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills with proven experience meeting deadlines and setting priorities
  • Solid knowledge of International Standards, Transpower Specifications, and relevant legislation for transmission design
  • Proficient in engineering design software including PLS-CADD (required), PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, Auto CAD (preferable)
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Project and a self-starter with excellent English communication and problem-solving skills.
