The New Zealand Export Credit (NZEC) is one of the operational functions of the Financing Infrastructure and Urban Development Directorate at the Treasury. As New Zealand's official export credit agency, NZEC's role is to help exporters grow, manage risk and access trade finance to deliver export opportunities. NZEC does this by providing financial services and guarantees complementary to the private sector.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
We have a rare opportunity for an ambitious Head of Business Origination to help build market awareness of NZEC's products and benefits, as well as identifying and facilitating funding and risk mitigation solutions for exporters. Daily tasks will also involve:
- Leading the Origination team in building market awareness of NZEC's products and benefits
- Originating and structuring deals that support NZ exporter growth and NZEC's revenue targets
- Developing strong stakeholder relationships at senior levels across exporters, banks, government and international agencies
Ō pūmanawa | About You
We are seeking a well-rounded candidate with the following skills / experience:
- Extensive client-facing experience (at least 10 years' experience in a similar position) preferably with experience in the field of trade finance or trade credit insurance; or a relevant international business background,
- Proven experience in meeting new business and client retention targets,
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to gain understanding through listening, and to communicate technical concepts clearly and succinctly,
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders at senior levels,
- Deal execution skills - someone who is able to quickly grasp the commercial aspects of the transaction, and identify workable solutions to support the funding and/or risk mitigation of exporters,
- Strong credit, analytical and financial skills (including ability to interpret financial statements),
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, often under strict deadline pressures,
- Existing relationships with or a demonstrable interest in engaging with Māori businesses,
- Demonstrated high levels of integrity, sound judgement and an honest and ethical approach,
- The ability to meet the criteria required to hold an appropriate security clearance.
