Te tūnga | The role
This role is a key part of the Collections Service Line in Technology Services at Stats NZ. We work on various systems processing our data.
You will work collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams, helping us implement our vision, working with the wider community of System Engineers growing the effectiveness of our technology services and processes.
You will have a proven track record as a Senior System Engineer in a hybrid cloud environment, combining strong back-office systems and network operations engineering experience with solid business user support acumen.
Your passion for learning will be seen through your initiatives to learn new tools and products, keeping ahead of the latest developments, and finding ways to continuously improve current processes and standards.

• Relevant technical experience
• Experience in SQL Database Administration
• Strong skills in Enterprise Infrastructure Engineering including server provisioning, maintaining regular patching schedule, support, and maintenance in a hybrid Azure and Linux environments
• Experience and skills in cloud network management
• Experience in automation, CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices
• A good understanding of Cyber security and hardening the servers.
• Strong Experience in setting up and managing Azure Infrastructure Services
• Strong Experience with Azure Dev Ops, Git, Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Setting, maintaining, and improving the standards of the environment and promote adherence
• Ability to work within and support a multi-located business
• Great work commitment, tenacity, resilience, and a pragmatic approach with strong problem-solving skills
