Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to teach and conduct research in Learning and Behaviour.
The teaching load will comprise of two courses. Learning and Behaviour Analysis (PSYC384) contributes to UC Psychology's innovative new Bachelor of Psychological Science programme, and is a core component of the Neuroscience and Cognition minor. It provides students with an overview of foundational principles of learning across a variety of species, and how these principles can be applied to modify behaviour. Behavioural Interventions (PSYC457) provides postgraduate students with a more in-depth treatment of how behavioural analysis principles can be applied to increase adaptive and decrease maladaptive behaviours in clinical and non-clinical settings. The course coordinator will develop and deliver both courses.
The role will also involve establishing a research programme in human and/or animal learning, and making service contributions to School, Faculty and/or University.

Mōu | Who You Are
A Ph D in psychology, neuroscience or an aligned discipline is required.
To be considered you will:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and experience in, delivering effective teaching methods that enable a wide range of learners to succeed.
  • Provide evidence of reflective learning and continuous professional development.
  • Demonstrate expertise in learning and behaviour, including applied behavioural analysis.
  • Demonstrate expertise in curriculum design, development and delivery for both on-campus and distance delivery.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of bicultural and multicultural issues in Aotearoa New Zealand society, including a commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi, and display a willingness to engage professionally with equity and diversity.
  • Provide evidence of research capability in the psychological principles of learning and behaviour.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including students, faculty and other stakeholders.

This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Academic Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies: Lecturer $89,645 p.a. - $108,144 p.a, Senior Lecturer $113,826 p.a. - $129,098 p.a.
