About the Role - We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with plenty of initiative to help provide a high quality, friendly service at our Hawera Library Plus.

The purpose of this job is to assist the Branch Librarian to provide an effective and responsive quality customer service for both library and Council services and to encourage and promote use of the Library Plus to existing and potential customers.

Do you have what it takes? - Libraries today are so much more than books. We are looking for an individual who is adaptable, can work in a team or individually, is comfortable with technology, keen to keep learning and is confident working with children, teens and/or adults. This is a busy role and is a key part of Council's front-line service. This job offers variety plus from issuing and attending to book returns, processing reserves and inter-loans for courier collection, answering customer enquiries, dealing with telephone calls and maintaining the Customer Request Management system (CRM). The role also involves, shelving books.

About You - Great customer service ethic is a must; you are a great team player with a qualification such as University Entrance, understands and has an appreciation of the Treaty of Waitangi and subsequent cultural issues, has previous experience in a customer services environment and cash handling experience.

Position 1 - 18 hours per week
This is a permanent part-time position working 18 hours per week which may include weekend work and has a requirement to be available to work public and school holidays. There will also be an opportunity to work additional hours from time to time to cover annual and sick leave.
The hours of work will change as we move to Te Ramanui, and this will be discussed at the interview.

Position 2 - 13 hours per week
This is a permanent part-time position working 13 hours per week which will include weekend work and has a requirement to be available to work public and school holidays. There will also be an opportunity to work additional hours from time to time to cover annual and sick leave.

The hours of work will change as we move to Te Ramanui, and this will be discussed at the interview.

Applicants for either position must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, therefore must have NZ residency or hold a valid NZ work visa. In terms of residence class visa applications, priority will be given where the applicant is in New Zealand.
