About the role
We are looking for a Pacific Bid Lead with great energy & drive, to join our high-performing New Business & Strategy team. The successful candidate will be leading and managing the bid process for the Pacific. This is an Auckland-based role.
The Pacific Bid Lead is a pivotal role within our New Business & Strategy team, who will act as the nominated representative for Mc Connell Dowell for a selected bid or bids. As part of their core responsibilities, the Pacific Bid Lead will develop and maintain an excellent business relationship with clients, partners, subcontractors and suppliers. The successful candidate will also act as a Lead Estimator across building and civil opportunities for Pacific, managing the bid process on behalf of Mc Connell Dowell and its partners and ensuring that the bid programme is adhered to.
Other responsibilities included:
- Ensure the bid is prepared in accordance with the Company Estimating Procedures.
- Attend or arrange for representatives to attend site visits. Gain thorough understanding of local conditions.
- Ensure that estimates are compiled to conform to the client specification/design brief.
- Represent the company at site inspections and in pre-award negotiations with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure the issue of request for quotations for plant, materials, equipment and subcontract services is in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the company’s quality, safety and environmental requirements are accommodated in tender submissions.
- Carry out a Risk Analysis of the construction aspects of the project.
- Provide information to the Commercial Manager who will similarly carry out a risk analysis of the Commercial aspects of the project.
- Arrange for a review of the cost estimates and technical proposals with senior operational management. Participate in tender reviews.
- Ensure tender deadlines are met.
About You
- Strong Estimating skills and knowledge of Pacific markets.
- Competent in leading and directing others evidenced through communication and negotiation abilities.
- 15 years’ experience in the construction industry with significant exposure to tender/bid submissions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and apply innovative but practical solutions to complex issues.
- Focussed on meeting objectives and timeframes through the use of Company processes.
- Self-sufficient, requiring minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
- Ability to review critically.
- A focus on meeting objectives and timelines.
- Strong oral and written presentation ability linked with a sound relationships and integrity record.
- Can lead, organise, and motivate others.
- Competent in use of MS Office, MS Project.
