Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

This is a full-time 1.0FTE permanent position ( 40 hrs per week)
Remuneration is between PTF1 ($100,696) to PTF2 ($111,297) - experience dependant

The purpose of the position is to provide high-quality evidence-based teaching in the Behaviour Analysis Programme and to contribute to undergraduate teaching in the School of Psychology.

The successful candidate will also provide clinical supervision to interns, assist in the coordination and delivery of courses in each year of the programme, assist with community outreach, and provide co-supervision for applied research projects (e.g., Honours and Masters). You will also be expected to coordinate a course in the undergraduate Psychology programme and contribute to undergraduate teaching.
Essential Qualifications and Knowledge include:
  • Master’s degree or Ph D in Behaviour Analysis (may also be a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst).
  • Registration or eligible to apply to register as a psychologist in Aotearoa/NZ
  • Teaching experience
  • Supervision experience is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of the use of technologies to support learning and teaching; specifically, Microsoft Teams, Canvas, and Zoom.
  • Experience as a behaviour analyst
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching and improving student outcomes and experience

He kōrero mōu | About you
You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students. You will have the knowledge, skills, and ability to teach behaviour-analytic techniques. You will have an understanding of the philosophy of behaviourism and the contribution of the experimental analysis of behaviour to behaviour-analytic practice. A good understanding and awareness of process issues in supervision and practice is essential.

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team
The Behaviour Analysis Programme is located within the School of Psychology. Our training is based on the Scientist Practitioner Model, which emphasises the value of research as adapted to the needs of the client as well as to the distinctiveness of the Aotearoa/New Zealand context.

The Behaviour Analysis programme was the first training programme to be developed outside the USA, and has a long history of training high-quality behaviour analysts. Our graduates are eligible to be registered as psychologists in New Zealand (the programme carries New Zealand Psychologist Board accreditation) and work in a range of areas post-graduation. Our programme also supports a number of Honours and Ph D students, as well as conducting behaviour-analytic research and contributing to the undergraduate programme in the School of Psychology. The programme has strong community links with many services, including special schools and dementia care homes. Our teaching reflects our commitment to Māori in terms of the Treaty of Waitangi.
